Total Recall — $26M

Originally adapted by director Paul Verhoeven in 1990, author Philip K. Dick’s classic sci-fi short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale returns to the big screen in this remake starring Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston, and Kate Beckinsale, and directed by Underworld’s Len Wiseman. The planet has been decimated by nuclear war in the late 21st century, leaving only two nations — the United Federation of Britain and the Colony. Douglas Quaid (Farrell) is a factory worker with a stable job and a loving wife… [more]

Box Office: “The Dark Knight Rises” Holds Off “Total Recall” to Keep Top Spot

Claiming frontrunner status for the third straight week, “The Dark Knight Rises” once again sits atop the box office to begin the weekend of August 3-5, 2012.

Certainly encountering stiffer competition in the newly released crop of contenders, Christopher Nolan’s final Batman installment starring Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway still managed to build a slim lead thanks to Friday earnings of $ 10.2 million (est.) with forecasts pegged at a $ 36 million three day take.

In what comes as a disappointing showing, the Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale starring action newcomer “Total Recall” posted runner-up worthy ticket sales with a projected $ 9.5 million opening day. Unfortunately, the Len Wiseman directed revamp’s estimated $ 26.5 million inaugural weekend total puts the pressure on for big International sales if Sony Pictures hopes to cover the project’s $ 150 million price tag.

Filling out the top five at the box office in expected totals are the just-released David Bowers directed family comedy “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” ($ 17 million), followed by Twentieth Century Fox Animation/Blue Sky Studios’ animated tale “Ice Age: Continental Drift” ($ 7.8 million) and a too close to call race for fifth between Vince Vaughn/Jonah Hill/Ben Stiller starring comedy “The Watch” ($ 5.6 million) and Mark Wahlberg and the Mila Kunis front talking teddy bear film “Ted” ($ 5.6 million).

Kate Beckinsale First Slated as “Three Breasted Hooker” in “Total Recall”

Careful not to trip in her high heels, Kate Beckinsale rushed to catch her awaiting car in Los Angeles today (July 25).

The 38-year-old British actress looked radiant in a bright white form-fitting dress with turquoise heels.

Soon you can see the “Underworld” star in the reboot of “Total Recall” in which she plays Colin Farrell’s onscreen wife, Lori. Jessica Biel stars as Melina, a rebel who helps Farrell’s character after the “Rekall” experience.

Director Len Wiseman, who just happens to be Beckinsale’s husband, made sure his leading lady would be a part of the film, even if it meant a smaller role.

In an interview with MTV the brunette beauty explained, “We’d had a conversation about the fact that I wasn’t available and we were both being very grown-up about it and he said, ‘Well, maybe, will you play the three-breasted hooker just so that you’re in the movie?’ And I was like, ‘OK,’ because it had been a very long time since I saw the movie ['Total Recall'].”

Relieved, the 41-year-old actress later laughed about the idea. “I’m so glad that I didn’t do that. I mean, she gets more attention than Jessica or me put together. My daughter would die. She’d be so mad at me, going into eighth grade, if I was walking around with three boobs all the time. She’d be really annoyed.”

Columbia Pictures released a new clip from “Total Recall” today showing Farrell’s character, Douglas Quaid, having trouble at a security checkpoint. Watch the clip below!

Colin Farrell Lands in Rio to Promote “Total Recall”

Promoting his newest film, Colin Farrell touched down at Rio de Janeiro International Airport in Brazil today (July 11th).

The Irish actor looked rather rugged in his jean jacket, dark jeans, and gray sleeveless shirt that showed off his arm tattoos.

On August 3rd, you can see the “Minority Report” star in the reboot of “Total Recall” in which he portrays a factory worker named Douglas Quaid who decides to try out a procedure where his dreams would be turned into real memories, all made possible by the company Rekall. The procedure goes terribly wrong and Quaid finds himself on the run from the police.

Columbia Pictures released a new clip of the movie today featuring a scene where Farrell’s character begins to undergo the memory procedure, only for it to be suddenly interrupted.

An internationally released poster accompanies the new clip, featuring the scruffy star and his femme fatale co-stars, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel.

Full ‘Total Recall’ Trailer Reveals More Guns, Colin Farrell’s College Girl Tattoo

As promised last week by a preview for a preview, here’s the full-length trailer for Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake.

This time Colin Farrell is in the lead role, playing a man whose dissatisfaction with his life leads him to harass people at bars, asking fellow drunks if they too feel the overwhelming malaise of existence, as if they need that. Screw you, Farrell. Everyone here is just trying to unwind after a long day of futurework, okay? Well, Farell’s ennui eventually pushes him to visit a place called Recall, where a Robert Patrick-esque John Cho offers to implant exciting spy memories that will spice up our hero’s bored life of being Kate Beckinsale’s shirtless husband. As you know if you’ve seen the original film, and as you’ll sort of pick up on in this trailer, the procedure leads to Farrell becoming a highly-trained agent capable of all kinds of ridiculous action set pieces–now with more Stormtroopers and slow-motion, mid-air gunfire! But as Farrell’s carefully-constructed life begins to unravel, and as he drives more flying cars around with Jessica Biel, events soon call into question whether or not these seemingly-implanted memories are so false after all. And if they are real, can they answer why Colin Farrell has an ornate peace sign tattooed in his inner arm? His memory tells him all his sorority sisters were doing it too, but that doesn’t seem right.

Oh, hey, Bryan Cranston.
