Dwight Schrute Getting His Own Show Now

dwight-schrute-farm-ice.jpg

With The Office winding down (it is winding down, right?) and the debacle that was Joey apparently wiped from NBC’s mind with Matt LeBlanc’s sudden Golden Globes respect, the network is now reportedly considering an Office spin-off centered on the wacky times of Dwight Schrute. But don’t worry, guys, this will not be another Joey. It will be more of another Golden Palace, because Rainn Wilson will be trying to run a little inn:

…the proposed spinoff is a family comedy, which was the brainchild of Wilson and The Office executive producer/showrunner Paul Lieberstein. It will have Dwight (Wilson) living at the Schrute family beet farm and bed & breakfast, which have been featured on the show several times, including in an episode where Jim and Pam visited Dwight there.

The potential spinoff will be introduced in an Office episode later this season set at Schrute Farms. “Paul and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B,” a source close to The Office said. “A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them.

With the network already on board to desperately prolong Wilson’s tenure for as long as it takes to get rid of all the fucking bobbleheads they ordered for the NBC store, the idea has reportedly already progressed even further since conception, “developed to include multiple generations, many cousins and neighbors.” Because what a show acutely focused on an eccentric, beet-obsessed oddball needs is a rotating cast of even wackier characters and distracting cameos to create a hazy white noise of unbelievable insanity.

If the series gets picked up, it would potentially launch midseason 2013, leaving The Office with one less voice in its cacophony of crazy comments and forced romances. Not that the series will necessarily go on much longer anyway. Deadline notes that Ed Helms, John Krasinksi, and Mindy Kaling all have other, larger prospects in development and no deals yet in place for even the next season. This could be the beginning of the end for The Office. Or it could be the beginning of Stanley inexplicably becoming the boss and James Spader’s dopey identical twin showing up to play an intern/love-interest for Oscar. We’ll see.

Seal Talks Divorce on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”

Tending to his previously scheduled press appearance despite his recent divorce announcement, Seal was the special guest during Monday’s (January 23) taping of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

With the episode set to air later this week, the 48-year-old British singer opened up about ending his marriage with wife of six and a half years, Heidi Klum, telling, “I think we were shocked. You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say ‘I do’ and you say ’til death do us part.’ Those vows hold value. They are not just words… You try and you work through it and the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and you become a parent you do the best that you can.”

“It makes you actually appreciate your parents a lot more. The thing that I’m most proud about this great woman who married (and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart), is that together she has given me four incredible gifts…four beautiful children [Leni, Henry, Johan, and Lou]. She still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world. I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other,” Seal, who also performed “Let’s Stay Together” for the daytime talk show, added. “To say that neither of us were grieving would be an out and out lie (and I don’t mind telling you that). I think the operative here is that we are civil to each other and we both have a tremendous amount of respect and love and we try and do this with as much dignity as we possibly can.”

Meanwhile, the “Kiss From a Rose” singer also commented on the fact that he was still sporting his wedding band, as he explained, “Yes, I am still wearing my ring. I think it’s just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years. Eight wonderful years together. Just because we have decided to separate doesn’t necessarily mean you take off your ring and you’re no longer connected to that person. We will be connected in many ways ‘til the rest of our lives…. though our children and also through this tremendous admiration, respect and love that we have for each other. Will we wear the ring for the rest of our lives? Who knows? But right now it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have intentions of taking it off anytime soon.”

Mark Wahlberg Drops By the “Late Show”

Kicking off his week with a media appearance, Mark Wahlberg was spotted at “The Late Show with David Letterman” last night (January 9).

The “Fear” actor was in the house to promote his new movie “Contraband,” set to hit theaters this Friday, January 13th.

And during his interview with Letterman, Mark shared that he’s been undergoing laser tattoo removal treatments to get rid of all of his body art.

During one visit to a hospital, Wahlberg said their ‘most advanced laser’ ended up causing him extra pain. “That was a disaster. It was like all these big welts and pus bubbles!”

Rooney Mara’s Low-Key “Late Show” Visit

Fresh off of an overseas flight from Sweden, Rooney Mara made a low-key entrance into the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City on Wednesday afternoon (December 14).

The Lisabeth Salander actress was on-hand for an appearance on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ to promote her upcoming movie “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”.

Of the film, Miss Mara recently spoke with Allure about the changes she’s made (including a nipple piercing, shorter hair and new style preferences) due to the acclaimed role.

Dishing on her new body jewelry, Rooney confessed, “I thought, ‘She has it in the book, and she should have it (in the movie). Because of all the tattoos and the makeup and the piercings, and the physical transformations my body has to go through, it would always feel sort of like I was in costume, even if I was naked. It just felt like a good one to get – a necessary one to get.”

As for her chopped locks, the 26-year-old said, “People always ask, ‘Were you crying when they cut your hair?’ And it didn’t freak me out at all. I was really happy to do it.”

And, as for ditching her “girlish” wardrobe, Mara told, “I used to wear a lot of girlie, frilly things, now I buy things that are more comfortable, and more utilitarian, and sort of boyish.”

Scarlett Johansson Talks 2011 Turmoil on the “Today” Show

Paying a visit to NBC Studios to promote her upcoming family dramedy “We Bought a Zoo,” Scarlett Johansson was one of the celebrity guests appearing on the “Today” show on Monday (December 12).

Looking beautiful in blue, the 27-year-old actress sat down for a candid interview with host Matt Lauer while talking about her film, as well as her divorce from Ryan Reynolds and much-talked-about nude photo scandal.

Of making it through the 2011 turmoil, Scarlett said, “I’ve been really fortunate. I’ve found that even in times of crisis I’ve had a lot of love around me and people have come out of all different dark corners to support (me) and that’s a really beautiful thing.”

With the full interview below, Johansson added, “I think I’ve also learned to be much more tolerant and much more patient.”
