Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. & Keith Urban: Officially Coming Back for “American Idol” Season 14
Ready to give a round of singers another chance at the title, Fox announced on Monday (June 23) that Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr are all set to return for the 14th season of “American Idol.”
In addition, longtime host Ryan Seacrest is coming back after reportedly signing an extended contract for multiple seasons.
Creator/executive producer Simon Fuller released a statement, which read: “I am thrilled our consummate host, Mr. Ryan Seacrest, is returning for Season 14, together with Jennifer, Harry and Keith. Their interaction, warmth and experience made them an absolute joy to watch. I can’t wait to see their evolution together continue next season.”
There will be a few changes in place for the upcoming season, as the broadcast slims down to one episode each week when it premieres in January.
Despite the minor difference in airtime, David Hill, senior VP of 21st Century Fox, explained, “Jennifer, Keith, Harry and Ryan are the very best in the business at what they do, and I’m thrilled that they are returning to American Idol for another season. Each brings unique qualities and expertise to the team, but they all share the same passion for helping undiscovered singers achieve the American dream.”
Guess America forgot the super inappropriate word he used to describe his Twitter haters…
Because controversial contestant Caleb Johnson was crowned the newest American Idol winner last night!
The 23-year-old rocker was a standout since the beginning of the competition, impressing judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban with his thrilling vocal skills.
‘Community’ Not Getting That Sixth Season, ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ Still Determining US Funny Video Heirarchy
Well, it seems Community won’t be making it to six seasons and a movie–at least not on NBC. The network today made official the news that’s been feared since the show’s first season, giving the cult sitcom the boot after five increasingly-tentative only made more anxiety-filled by Ken Jeong screaming so much. Not that NBC has anything against shows that constantly reference films, though: both Hannibal and somehow About a Boy will be coming back next year. Also, sorry if you’ve been following Revolution. You won’t be finding out how that ends.
ABC likewise made some cuts, dropping their alien family comedy The Neighbors alongside newcomers Mixology and Trophy Wife. Expectedly, big dumb continually-popular reality things The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, and Shark Tank, were picked up for the ’14-’15 season, as were a mess of dramas, including Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Revenge, Resurrection, Once Upon a Time, and Castle. American’s Funniest Home Videos was also renewed for one more year of pretending the internet doesn’t exist.

Milton Glaser–the designer behind the I ♥ NY logo, this iconic Bob Dylan poster, the DC Comics logo you probably grew up with, and more–was commissioned for Mad Men‘s final season poster, and the result is this garish bit of bacchanal psychedelia. It’s not really as cool as last season’s art, but it is more likely to make you freak out, and should that not always be a measure of success as well?
