“Today’s” Matt Lauer and Al Roker Score Cameo in “Sharknado 2”

Fans of Syfy’s successful horror film “Sharknado” are in for a treat! “Today” hosts Matt Lauer and Al Roker announced this morning (April 2) that they are set to appear in the sequel to the viral flick.

Matt and Al filmed their scenes for “Sharknado 2” in NBC’s Studio 1A and shared a behind-the-scenes look with fans during today’s broadcast of their hit morning show.

The overly acted clip shows the pair fighting a green object, which is expected to become a CGI shark with the power of filmmaking.

After revealing the clip to their “Today” audience, Matt said, “That was the pivotal scene in the entire movie that we’ve just given away.”

Matt Smith Rumored for ‘Star Wars’, As Willed by Geek Community

Because rumors of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Star Wars casting can only sustain the internet’s squealing for so long, now we’re going to say departing Doctor Who star Matt Smith is up for a part, too. The new rumor comes from BleedingCool, where they say Smith “went in for a role” on Episode VII but add that they “don’t know if that means he had an audition, a screen test or just a chat with JJ Abrams or George Lucas.” It’s also not specified what the role could be, but the logical thought is he’ll just be placeholder until someone starts up the Tom Hiddleston talk.

Matt Damon Rakes In $3 Million For 20-Second Advertisement With George Clooney!

How ’bout them apples!

When Matt Damon got Minnie Driver’s 7-digits in Good Will Hunting he was pretty stoked, but the 7-digit pay day he got for shooting a 20-second commercial for Nespresso, probably made him much happier.

Matt earned an astonishing $ 3 million for his role in a commercial he shot …

Matt Damon Joins ‘Interstellar’, Eyes Directing

Matt Damon and Christopher Nolan, the two men most responsible for today’s accepted Batman origin, are teaming up for the first time. ThePlaylist reports the actor will go straight back to sci-fi with “a small, undisclosed role” in Nolan’s Interstellar. Damon joins a massive cast that includes, among others, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, and Casey Affleck in a film that will venture into the farthest reaches of space, and as close to the words “Batman” and “Ben Affleck” as it can stretch without actually involving either of those things.

In yet another piece of Damon news for the day: The same Playlist story notes Damon may finally be making his directorial debut with A Murder Foretold. He’s had a couple false starts in the past–he co-wrote Promised Land with an eye to direct before getting to busy with Elysium, and a couple years ago was looking to direct Father Daughter Time–but it seems it may actually happen this time. The project is based on a 2008 New Yorker article about a man killed in Guatemala; a video tape he left behind ends up posthumously implicating the president, his wife, and others in the murder. Argo writer Chris Terrio wrote the script, because every Matt Damon news item today must bear some connection to Ben Affleck. He’s Batman.

Matt Damon and Kellan Lutz Attend “Elysium” Screening in NYC

Arriving in style to support his new sci-fi flick, Matt Damon attended the “Elysium” screening at Sunshine Landmark in New York City on Tuesday (July 30).

The “Bourne Identity” star looked handsome in a black dress shirt, black blazer, and black pants as he sported his spectacles for photographs.

Also on hand to up the star power was “Twilight” hunk Kellan Lutz who showed off his ripped figure in a tight black ensemble.

Written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, the film follows a factory worker who takes on a mission to hijack his way onto a man-made space habitat.

Co-starring with the 42-year-old actor are Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Diego Luna, and Sharlto Copley. “Elysium” hits theaters on August 9th.

David Tennant and Matt Smith To Time Lord Together, and More…

- The BBC has confirmed that gross fan fiction will be made real when David Tennant and Billie Piper join newer Doctor and companion Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman in this November’s Doctor Who 50th anniversary special. John Hurt will also appear to be like, “Wouldn’t I have been a pretty good Doctor?” We will agree.

- While Stephen Soderbergh has retired from feature films, he’s not quite ready to finally bite into that new Bioshock quite yet. In addition to stage versions of Magic Mike and Cleopatra, he tells EW he’s also working to adapt John Barth’s 1960 novel The Sot-Weed Factor into a 12-hour miniseries. The one-hour episodes will look at the colonization of Maryland in the 1600s from a satirical angle. Truly nothing is sacred.

- Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Selena Gomez, and Laurence Fishburne have signed on to star alongside Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy in Macy’s directorial debut, Rudderless. The film focuses on a father who, after the loss of his son, discovers the deceased kid’s written music and forms a band in the hopes of finding himself closure. Instead, he finds himself in the behind-the-warnings stock footage of an erectile dysfunction drug commercial.
