Jason Sudeikis Joins Galifianakis, Wiig, and Owen Wilson in What Certainly Sounds Like a Comedy Cast
Jason Sudeikis is joining Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, and Kristen Wiig in the comedy casting equivalent of one of the internet sandwiches where someone throws a bunch of a different meats in and presses them together. If these all taste fine in various combinations two at a time, maybe all the better to have them at once? So we’ll find out with an untitled film from Napoleon Dynamite‘s Jared Hess.
Based on a true story, the film sees a group of idiots who successfully rob an armored car of nearly $ 20 million. Wilson is playing their leader, Galifianakis the Loomis Fargo driver in on the heist, and Wiig the love interest that gets him to go along with it. Sudeikis is playing a hit man. Danny McBride is executive producing. The cameos will assumedly be various and overwhelming. Bill Hader might even get to voice the armored car.
Sin City‘s Rosario Dawson is headed back to grimy back alleys of Frank Miller’s mind. The actress has officially joined the cast of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil. She’ll play an unnamed “dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.” Since this series takes place in modern day, gentrified Hell’s Kitchen, for Dawson, it’s apparently back to just moaning about rent.
Like the Men in Black, J.Lo in The Cell, and so many perps with a criminal intent, Daredevil is going to go up against Vincent D’Onofrio. As officially announced by Marvel, the versatile character actor will return to his Full Metal Jacket days of being fat, bald, and eventually deadly to play crime lord and businessman Wilson Fist, aka The Kingpin, on Netflix’s Daredevil series. It’s said Fisk’s “interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.” And because this is 2014′s Hell’s Kitchen, those conflicts about its future will take the form of opinionated, clashing Yelp reviews about which new restaurants deserve to stay open.

Hailee Steinfeld has reportedly joined the cast of Term Life, the action comedy in which Vince Vaughn attempts to stay alive through means other than grating man-child roles. Based on an Image graphic novel by Nick Thornborrow and the screenwriter, A.J. Lieberman, Term Life sees Vaughn as a greedy, in-deep low-life wanted dead by criminal and cop alike. To try to do something good before he ends up dead, he takes out a million-dollar life insurance policy to provide for his estranged daughter (Steinfeld) come his certain death, but soon after realizes it doesn’t kick in for three weeks; the film jumps around those days of Vince Vaughn continuing his existence. Matt Damon and Christopher Nolan, the two men most responsible for today’s accepted Batman origin, are teaming up for the first time. ThePlaylist reports the actor will go straight back to sci-fi with “a small, undisclosed role” in Nolan’s Interstellar. Damon joins a massive cast that includes, among others, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, and Casey Affleck in a film that will venture into the farthest reaches of space, and as close to the words “Batman” and “Ben Affleck” as it can stretch without actually involving either of those things.
In yet another piece of Damon news for the day: The same Playlist story notes Damon may finally be making his directorial debut with A Murder Foretold. He’s had a couple false starts in the past–he co-wrote Promised Land with an eye to direct before getting to busy with Elysium, and a couple years ago was looking to direct Father Daughter Time–but it seems it may actually happen this time. The project is based on a 2008 New Yorker article about a man killed in Guatemala; a video tape he left behind ends up posthumously implicating the president, his wife, and others in the murder. Argo writer Chris Terrio wrote the script, because every Matt Damon news item today must bear some connection to Ben Affleck. He’s Batman.
