As a Latina icon in the entertainment business, Rita Moreno has a unique perspective after 82 years of life.
In the summer issue of Glam Belleza Latina, the legendary starlet discusses what it was like to appear on the March 1954 issue of Life magazine- “It was very Latina.”
Moreno also mentioned, “I was so astonished that I’d won!” with regard to her 1962 Oscar for “West Side Story.”
Still, even back in her early days in the industry, Rita couldn’t stand the Latina typecasting tendency- “I hated the dark makeup, being barefoot – all of it.”
Finally, Ms. Moreno shared that she looked to Elizabeth Taylor as a role model-“I had no [Latinas] to look up to back then. It’s crazy that I’m a role model now.”
Making for quite the grand night in China, a handful of Hollywood’s top names joined together to attend the Montblanc International Gala to celebrate the official opening of its new and biggest concept store in the world at the Montblanc Sanlitun in Beijing on Friday (June 1).
Lovely actresses Jessica Alba and Naomi Watts were among those adding their star power to the Asian concept store soiree as they joined Montblanc International CEO Lutz Bethge at the JW Marriott Hotel held function.
Also on the elite guest list was “Rum Diaries” darling Amber Heard, who mingled with actor Clemens Schick and Director of Montblanc Cultural Foundation Ingrid Roosen-Trinks while “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” actor Nicolas Cage schmoozed his way around the posh venue clad in a spiffy black suit.
During the course of the launch party, Montblanc reportedly presented the entire ‘Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco’ which included “outstanding timepieces, writing instruments and sparkling Haute Joaillerie.”
Gathering together to raise money for quite the worthwhile cause, the stars were out at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, CA for the 2011 UNICEF Ball on Thursday night (December 8).
Held annually as one of the most notable black-tie galas, the ritzy soiree was hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Mary Hart while drawing out lovely ladies including Nicole Richie, Brooklyn Decker, Diane Kruger and Kate Walsh.
Also in attendance at the fundraising fete – which has a mission to help create a healthier and safer life for children all over the globe – were Kristen Bell and husband Dax Shepard, as well as Rose McGowan, Matthew Morrison, Jenna Elfman and Jayma Mays.
As for the entertainment, guests were treated to special musical performances by L.P., Emily Bear, Melanie Fiona, Huter Perry and Lionel Richie while Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan was recognized as a Woman of Compassion and the Medavoy family was presented with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award.
Bringing an end to his lengthy travels, Adam Lambert performed at Shepherds Bush Empire in London, England on Monday night (November 29).
Prior to the UK concert, the “American Idol” alum tweeted about readying to take the stage for his tour’s final concert, writing, “Final international Glam Nation tour show tonight at Shepards Bush in London! We are gonna Kill it tonight!!”
Treating fans to tunes including “Music Again,” “Strut” and “If I Had You” during the rockin’ gig, Adam also sent a big thanks to his tour’s opening act following the final show.
The 28-year-old wrote, “@mytoyboxmusic you guys have the freshest sound!!! Thank you for being such a great opening act!!!”
