With heir to the Invisible Touch royalties, Lily Collins, last week dropping out of FilmDistrict’s Evil Dead remake, the studio has moved quickly to find a lesser-eyebrowed replacement, and they think they’ve found on in Suburgatory star Jane Levy. The actress is in talks to join the project as the film’s lead, a former drug addict attempting to clean herself up in a desolate cabin but unfortunately running into the forces of the dead, that are evil. As previously mentioned, that character replaces the original’s Ash, who was way too male and non-drug-addicted for modern audiences.

Red Riding Hood‘s Shiloh Fernandez has also joined the Fede Alvarez-directed reboot, and will unavoidably play a character that looks like a rich rapist bragging to his victim that no one will ever believe her. The exact identity of this character has yet to be revealed, but again, it isn’t Ash.

Concerned the title Resident Evil: Retribution had a bit too much dignity for such a thinly-stretched excuse to make Milla Jovovich slide/jump around shooting pistols, Screen Gems has decided to tweak the name to better identify the film as the lazy, unabashed facsimile it really is. So, sow they’ve slapped a “5″ in there, making the film Re5ident Evil: Retribution and drawing obvious comparisons to fellow film classic The Empire 5trikes Back.

Anyway, I guess it does make sense from a business perspective. Now it’s a stronger reminder that there are another four of these things you should probably purchase on Blu-ray and digital download. And it’s always smart to wait until the seventh or eighth film before you start outright naming them “The shit with the model shooting things again.”

- Sony and FilmDistrict have partnered with Ghost House Pictures for that Diablo Cody-scripted Evil Dead remake. So what I’m saying is we’re still getting an Evil Dead remake.

- The Rocker director Peter Cattaneo is reportedly in talks to direct Bridget Jones’s Diary 3, because we’re also still getting that.

- Christian Bale’s commitment to back-to-back Terrence Malick films means he won’t have time to shoot Darren Aronofsky’s edgy take on Noah. The dream of hearing a Bat-growl command for two of each animal is over.

- Alice Eve is in talks to join J.J. Abram’s Star Trek sequel. Secrecy about the project is keeping her role under wraps, but it will reportedly be a new character, who will be hot.

- Remember those rumors that Taylor Lautner, Nicolas Cage, John Travolta, and Christian Slater were in talks to join the cast of The Expendables 2? Well, that didn’t pan out, but Sly has arranged the next best thing: a cameo from number one-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic. Fine, put a tennis player in it, but by the logic of Expendables‘ aging, oft-balding, faded star casting rules, shouldn’t it at least be Agassi?

Question by Luke: anyone whos watched the sequel of resident evil?
I’ve watched Resident Evil: Afterlife. I know theres a new one coming this 2011 or 2012. What do you guys think will happen? After the Umbrella corporation saw Alice and the others, it ended. What do you guys think will happen after that! Interested in best opinion.

I think the mind controlled Jill will attack Alice and her friends.

Then one character will die after which Jill is freed from the device.

Swearing revenge on the ones responsible, Alice, Jil and the remaining others go on the offensive but have to travel through woods infested with zombies until they reach their destination.

A copy of the original Spencer mansion and Umbrella’s leader is inside.
