With shooting on a two-part The Hobbit franchise underway, New Line and MGM have gone ahead and sent out the official titles and release dates for the films. As previously rumored, the first film has been assigned the puberty pamphlet-esque subtitle An Unexpected Journey, and is set to come out December 14, 2012. Its follow-up will take the original Tolkien subtitle, There And Back Again, and is being released a year later, Dec. 13, 2013. Happy nerdy, high fantasy Christmas!

Like a little infant-like freak maintaining an attachment to humanity only through his conjoined relationship with actor Marshall Bell, Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake is drifting farther and farther into the territory of gross mutation, only vaguely recognizable by the name its been affixed to. Wiseman and Co.–having already traded the iconic locales of Mars and Earth for made-up places Euromerica and New Shanghai–have now made another seemingly-arbitrary change indicative of how they’re going to make this their own but not really, switching the name of resistance leader “Kuato” to “Quatto.” Why not, right? Bill Nighy is in talks to play this “Quatto” part, and yes, I am also worried that the name change is somehow meant to reflect that the character is no longer a disgusting belly baby, but what can you do? CGI probably would have ruined the charm, anyway.
Jessica Biel, too, has joined the cast, and will play the Melina role once inhabited by permanent tough lady Rachel Ticotin, while Wiseman’s wife Kate Beckinsale, having been offered Sharon Stone’s old part, is now confirmed to be playing Lori. But maybe Lori spelled “Laurie” this time, Len, and she’ll also wear a hat? Sorry, I’ll let you be the creative one.

Resident Evil 5 The Movie: Part 1 Capcom’s beloved survival horror series gets an extreme makeover. ( This is a fan-made movie. This video is only for viewing pleasure only nothing else. ) RE5 Story: From the ashes of old conflicts, a new terror arises. The Umbrella Corporation and its crop of lethal viruses have been destroyed and contained. But a new, more dangerous threat has emerged. Years after surviving the events in Raccoon City, Chris Redfield has been fighting the scourge of bio-organic weapons all over the world. Now a member of the Bio-terrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA), Chris is sent to Africa to investigate a biological agent that is transforming the populace into aggressive and disturbing creatures. Joined by another local BSAA agent, Sheva Alomar, the two must work together to solve the truth behind the disturbing turn of events. Change can be a painful process. Just ask one of the unfortunate citizens of Kijuju, the fictional region of Africa that serves as the setting of Resident Evil 5. The citizens of Kijuju are going through some ugly changes, many of which involve tentacles, oozing eyeballs and heretofore unexplored bloodlust. As an action game, RE5 is a success, and theres a wealth of replayability through item collection, weapon upgrades, score chasing and the unlockable Mercenaries mode. But this is no gentle nudge to the formula of the previous main RE games. After a near 6 month absents I’m back with RE5 The Movie. In 2005 this game …
